Cleveland Comets News Release

Cleveland, OH - The Cleveland Comets are excited to announce the signing of former NCAA All-American, Alexa Peterson to a two-year deal. Peterson was the eleventh overall selection in the 2014 NPF draft, out of the University of Oregon.

Last year with the Chicago Bandits, Peterson hit at a .267 clip with a .400 OBP and scored 10 times in 45 at bats. A model of consistency, Peterson is a .266 career hitter with excellent power. Her ability to play multiple positions will almost certainly be utilized this year, both in the outfield and behind the plate.

In her four years at Oregon, Peterson posted a career.360 average with 30 homeruns, 153 RBIs, and 38 doubles. In 2013, she was a First-Team NFCA All-American when she hit a career best .424 and 12 homeruns. She was named to the All-Pacific Region team four times, the All-Pac 12 First Team two times, and was a member of the All-Pac 12 Freshman team in 2011. Peterson was a member of the 2012 All-WCWS team. She was a key member of the team's two WCWS appearances in 2012 and 2014 and helped Oregon win their first two Pac-12 Championships in program history.

"Alexa is the kind of player every GM is always looking for, someone who can play multiple positions effectively and brings a consistent and powerful right-handed bat to your lineup. Most importantly she brings the kind of personality and attitude we are looking for," said Stephen Dunn, General Manager of the Cleveland Comets.

The Cleveland Comets look forward to Peterson's contributions toward a successful 2018 campaign.
