Alex Britt Named Prospect League Pitcher of the Week
July 24, 2012 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Dubois County Bombers News Release
HUNTINGBURG, Ind. - Alex Britt of the Dubois County Bombers was named the pitcher of the week for Week 8 in the Prospect League. The junior from Carson-Newman pitched a complete-game shutout of the Springfield Sliders on July 17 at League Stadium in Huntingburg, allowing only three hits and three walks as he struck out 10.
Britt, a righty from Salisbury, N.C., is 4-1 in seven starts. His 1.97 ERA is fourth in the league, and his 50.1 innings pitched are eighth. Britt has struck out 41 batters this season while walking 23.
Britt also pitched an inning in the 2012 Prospect League All-Star Game for the Western Division.
Due in large part to Britt's consistent pitching - he's never thrown less than six innings or allowed more than three earned runs - the Bombers won the Western Division in the first half and host the divisional playoff game Tuesday, August 7, and continue to own one of the best overall records in the Prospect League.
Britt is the second Bomber to be recognized as one of the Prospect League's players of the week this season; outfielder Landon Curry received that recognition in Week 2.
