Danville Dans News Release

(DANVILLE, IL) - Danville Dans fans will be especially tuned into the American League Championship Series, because there will be one former Danville Dan on the roster of the team winning the AL pennant.

Mitch Moreland, Texas Rangers starting first baseman, and Detroit Tigers infielder Danny Worth were teammates with the 2005 Danville Dans. The Dans were the regular season champion in the then Central Illinois Collegiate League that year.

Moreland and Worth are both in their second year in the big leagues.

Moreland was on the Texas roster for last year's post-season series, including playing in the 2010 World Series. A product of Mississippi State, Moreland was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on July 29 of last year. he hit .348 in last year's championship run.

Worth, a Pepperdine baseball player, made his debut with the Detroit Tigers on May 16, 2010. He was on the Tigers roster in two separate stints last season, and moved back and forth between Detroit and the Toledo Mud Hens this year. Worth got his spot on the ALCS roster after Delmon Young was removed because of a strained left oblique.

Whether cheering for the Rangers or Tigers, Danville Dans fans wish both Danny Worth and Mitch Moreland the best in this year's ALCS.

The Danville Dans play in the Prospect League, a wooden bat summer college league. For more information about the Danville Dans, visit our website, www.DanvilleDans.com .
