Albany Legends sign Rashaun Freeman

Albany Legends announce today that the organization has come to contract terms with 25 year old, 6'9" F/C Rashaun Freeman, UMass '07.

The 4 year UMass starter, Rashaun Freeman is among the all time leaders in scoring, games played and rebounds for UMass and holds impressive honors as an NCAA Atlantic 10 First Team member in '05, '06, '07 and as the '04 rookie of the year.

Freeman comes to the Legends most recently from ENBW Ludwigsburg (Germany), '09-'10 where he shot 50.7% from the floor and had a season high of 13 points against ALBA on May 1, 2010. Prior to Germany, Freeman played in France's Pro A League for Graveline Club '08 and was also a member of the 2008 Chicago Bulls Summer roster.

The local standout started his impressive run to date while playing high school ball under Mike Sausvilles at Schenectady High School ('02 Patriot's 21-4, 17.8 ppg). Freeman led the team to the '01 NYS Class A State Title game (18 points) and the '02 NYS Section 2 Championship. He was named the Times Union Boys Player of the Year in '01-02. Prior to his success with the Patriots, Freeman was a key factor with the Albany City Rocks '00 NYS 17/16 U AAU Championship Team under coach Jimmy Hart.

Freeman will be in IBL action wth the Legends for the upcoming series against the Holland (Mich) Blast on Friday 7:30 pm May 21 (Lynn's Uptown Sports Bar Koozie Night), Saturday 7 pm May 22 (Team Photo Night) and Sunday May 23, 5 pm (Two for One Concession Night on Beer, Soda, Popcorn and Hotdogs) at the Washington Avenue Armory, tickets start at $7!
