ALBANY, NY- The Albany Empire announce that three players have been assigned to the team roster through free agency. Per League and team rules, terms are not disclosed. The free agency signing period for the Arena Football League began on Monday, March 4.
Christian Briggs, Wide Receiver
A big target to join the Empire receiving corps, Christian Briggs attended Southeastern Louisiana University after transferring from Southern Miss. Standing in at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, the rookie will be a difficult cover for any defensive back in the League. Following his time in college, Briggs signed with the Seattle Seahawks before joining the Indianapolis Colts. Most recently, Briggs spent time in the Alliance of American Football League with the Memphis Express.
Darrell Brown, Offensive Line
A Texas native, Darrell Brown played his college ball at Louisiana Tech University. During his time with the Bulldogs, Brown was named First Team All-Louisiana twice, First Team All-Conference during his senior year, and Second Team All-Conference in his junior year. Following college, Brown participated in rookie minicamp with the New York Jets before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 where he spent the full preseason with the team. Most recently, Brown spent time with the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football League.

Hailing from South Carolina, Terrance Smith enters his eighth year in the Arena Football League. The multitalented athlete stayed in his home state for college where he attended South Carolina State University. His senior year as a Bulldog, Smith caught 40 passes for 542 yards and four touchdowns as one of the top receivers on the field. After college, Smith signed as an undrafted free agent to the eventual Super Bowl winning Green Bay Packers in 2010. Following his brief stint in the NFL, Smith made his way to the AFL where he debuted with the ArenaBowl Champion Jacksonville Sharks as a defensive back. Throughout his five years in Jacksonville, Smith doubled as a defensive back and wide receiver where he shined on both sides of the ball. In 2012, Smith starred on special teams, returning 8 kickoffs for 1,731 yards and three touchdowns. In the same year, Smith was named to the All-Iron Man team for his ability to play on both offense and defense.
