Albany Dutchmen News Release
The Albany Dutchmen (6-3) drop their third game of the season as they fell to the Victor RailRiders (6-5) 2-1 on Monday night.
The one run scored by the Dutchmen is their lowest scoring total of the season. A big part of the lack of scoring was Victor starting pitcher Brennen Smith (Canisius College) who pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, one earned run and walked six.
The lone run was scored by the PGCBL Player of the Week JJ Shimko (University of South Carolina Upstate) off of a Mychael Goudreau (Azusa Pacific University) single.
Jared Gold (Coastal Carolina University) got the start for the Dutchmen. He pitched 4.2 innings giving up six hits and one run, while striking out three batters.
The most impressive pitching of the night came from Drew Robertson (Baylor University) who came in relief for Gold. Robertson pitched 2.1 innings and struck out five batters.
Dale Wickham (Cornell University), the RailRiders centerfielders, drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning to break the 1-1 tie.
The Dutchmen are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Amsterdam to face the Mohawks at 6:35 p.m.
