Albany A Possibility In The MISL
November 26, 2007 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Albany News Release
Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Commissioner, Steve Ryan, met today with Washington Avenue Armory's executive vice president, Jim Coyne. The MISL consists of teams representing Monterrey, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Orlando, Chicago, Detroit, New Jersey, and Stockton, California.
Commissioner Ryan wishes to continue his balanced expansion of the League. "The Armory is a very intimate setting for professional sports. It would be a unique fit for professional indoor soccer," stated Ryan.
Jim Coyne indicated that the metropolitan area is a hot-bed for soccer. "Youth involvement in soccer has increased dramatically in the past ten years." He continued, "the Armory would be willing to invest 20-30% security interest in a MISL membership if there were other interested business people willing to invest."
The MISL has had a successful run in major cities across the country. Commissioner Ryan has given his preliminary approval for the Armory as a potential franchise site dependent upon ownership status of an expansion member club.
