January 20, 2017 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
FC Kansas City News Release
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Comets defender Alain Matingou was named the Major Arena Soccer League Player of the Week for Week Twelve. This is the first Player of the Week award for Matingou and the third award this season for the Comets.
The Comets traveled to California last weekend for a pair of games against the Ontario Fury and the San Diego Sockers. Matingou had an assist on Friday against the Fury and then added his first career hat-trick on Saturday against the Sockers, including the game-winning goal with 21.4 seconds remaining in the game.
Matingou and the Comets will look to extend their current three-game winning streak with a pair of games over the weekend. They host the Syracuse Silver Knights on Friday at 8:35 p.m. ET before traveling to face their Central Division rivals, the Chicago Mustangs, on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
Both of those games, along with every game this season, can be found on MASLtv, the broadcast home of the Major Arena Soccer League.
The Kansas City Comets have a long rich history of indoor soccer in KC, including the 2014 MISL Championship. The reigning Back-to-Back MASL Central Division champions play at the Silverstein Eve Centers Arena. For tickets and information call 855.452.GOAL (4625)
