Akron Falls to Somerset 6-5

Ryan Cearini and Aaron Walton each picked up two hits, but the Somerset Patriots scored two in the seventh to come from behind to defeat the Akron RubberDucks 6-5 on Thursday night at 7 17 Credit Union Park.

Turning Point

Somerset rallied with two outs in the seventh. Jace Avina singled and Coby Morales walked to put two on. Rodrick Arias tripled into the left-center gap to bring home both to make it 6-5 Patriots.

Mound Presence

Cam Walty made the start for Akron on Thursday. The right-hander allowed four runs in the second but kept the Patriots quiet the rest of his night. In total, Walty tossed five innings allowing the four runs while striking out two. Michael Kennedy allowed two runs and struck out three over 2.2 innings. Zach Jacobs tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings.

Duck Tales

Akron jumped ahead early on Thursday. Cesarini opened the bottom of the first with a double before advancing to third on a groundout. Bennett Thompson lifted a sac-fly to right to score Cesarini and put Akron ahead 1-0. After Somerset scored four in the second, the RubberDucks answered with four in the third. Christian Knapczyk doubled to open the inning before coming around to score on a single by Jhorvic Abreus. Cesarini followed with a two-run home run to tie the game. Later in the inning, Thompson singled and advanced to second on a groundout. Dean Curley lined a single into center to score Thompson and make it 5-4 Akron.

Notebook

Five innings pitched set a career-long for Walty...Cesarini's homer was his second in Double-A...Schubart's 58 game on-base streak was snapped in the loss...Game Time: 2:24...Attendance: 3,197.
