AJ Millien Named PBL Newcomer of the Year

Chicago, IL... AJ Millien, a 6-9 forward from Halifax Rainmen was named the Premier Basketball League Newcomer of the Year for the 2008-09 season. The Newcomer of the Year award is for any player who has not previously played in the PBL and made a positive contribution to the league. Millien, a 6-9 forward from Idaho State, was selected by of a vote of the PBL's head coaches.

Millien started the season as a member of the Augusta Groove before being traded to the Halifax Rainmen. Millien led the PBL in scoring this season, averaging 24.7 ppg. over 15 games for the Groove and Rainmen. A high flyer who was a crowd favorite with his dunking style, Millien shot 55 % from the field this season and was fourth in the PBL in rebounding with 9.5 rpg. Millien had a game high 44 points against Mid-Michigan was the third highest total in the PBL this season.

"AJ was an important acquisition for the Rainmen," said Rainmen Owner Andre Livingston. "He gave us a missing piece of the puzzle when we were making our playoff run and was a crowd favorite in his short time here in Halifax. He is a talented player that did what this award is all about, make an impact on the PBL, and he did that in a big way all season long."
