AIFL names Players of the Week

March 14, 2006 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release


DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The American Indoor Football League Northern Conference players of the week for week are as follows.

OFFENSE: Tom Stetzer, Reading Express. Threw for 240 yards and six touchdowns as the Express rallied from a 14-point deficit and defeated the Stuebenville Stampede.

DEFENSE: James Branch and Charles Tynes, Huntington Heroes. Branch had five tackles and two interceptions while Tynes registered 10.5 tackles to pace a Heroes defense that tied a league record for fewest points allowed (13) in a 62-13 blowout of the Miami Valley Silverbacks.

LINEMAN: Ian Hale, Johnstown Riverhawks. Helped protect rookie QB Waylon Davis and was part of a Riverhawks offensive line that did not give up a sack. Also intercepted a pass and returned it 13 yards for a touchdown, had two QB hurries, and one solo tackle.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Eric Rockhold, Reading Express. Nailed seven PATs, a field goal and a rouge for the Express in its win over Stuebenville.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla - The American Indoor Football League Southern Conference players of the week for week three are as follows.

OFFENSE: Anthony Young, Augusta Spartans. Threw for 149 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 51 yards and two scores as the expansion Spartans remained unbeaten with a 37-27 victory over the Florence Phantoms.

DEFENSE: John Williamson, Raleigh Rebels. Registered tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks forced two fumbles as the upstart Rebels improved to 3-0 with a key 53-44 decision over the Chattahoochee Valley Vipers.

LINEMAN: Alfred Dubose, Richmond Bandits. Five tackles, five hurries and a sack on defense while helping the Bandit offense protect Robbie Jenkins in Richmond's come-from-behind 50-46 decision over the Daytona Beach Thunder.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Danny Marshall, Rome Renegades. Connected on six extra points, a field goal and rouge for Rome in its 57-34 victory over Carolina.
