AIFL honors Heroes lineman

Huntington Heroes News Release


DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The American Indoor Football League Northern Conference players of the week for week four are as follows:

LINEMAN: Chris Nunn, Huntington Heroes. Helped contain a Johnstown defense that had six sacks entering Friday's game to none as the Heroes won their first road game ever, a 38-23 decision over the Riverhawks. The Heroes continue to lead the league in many defensive stats including lowest total points allowed.

The Heroes return home this Saturday for a 7 PM game against the Northern Division leading Erie Freeze. The Freeze are undefeated at 3-0. Saturdays game at the Veterans Memorial Field House will be Huntington's most important game to date.

Other AIFL players for week 4 are as follows:

OFFENSE: Randall Knapp, Canton Legends. Caught 12 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns as the Legends defeated the Reading Express 52-41.

DEFENSE: Roosevelt Benjamin, Erie Freeze. Registered two picks - one for a touchdown -- and a sack as Erie downed Syracuse 67-19.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Darmel Whitfield, Erie Freeze. Kicked four extra points, threw a two-point conversion and a had 57-yard kickoff return for a touchdown as part of the Freeze victory. The Southern Conference was idle in week four.
