AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

AFL week 12 must-see matchup

April 13, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

COLORADO OS DAMIAN HARRELL VS. KANSAS CITY WR/LB AARON BOONE

It will be a veteran versus rookie match up in Kansas City, when OS DAMIAN HARRELL (6-3, 200, Florida State) and the Colorado Crush (8-3) battle WR/LB AARON BOONE (6-2, 200, Kentucky) and the Kansas City Brigade (2-9) this Sunday at Kemper Arena at 1:00 p.m. ET on NBC.

Harrell has posted huge numbers in the passing attack for the Crush this season, ranking first in the AFL with 1,283 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns. He is projected to break the single- season receiving touchdown record (46) and most touchdowns accumulated in a season (51). Throwing the passes to Harrell is savvy QB JOHN DUTTON (6-4, 225, Nevada-Reno), who has 64 touchdown passes (second in AFL) and has tossed for 2,988 yards this season. On defense, DS RASHAD FLOYD (6-0, 180, Portland State), the Week 10 and 11 ADT Defensive Player of the Week, and the Crush will look to continue their stifling defense as he is currently tied for the League lead in interceptions (8) and ranks second in tackles (84.0).

Since arriving from Philadelphia via trade on March 20, Boone has had an instant impact for the Brigade offense. In only his second game with the team, he exploded to set franchise single-game records for receptions (13), receiving yards (157) and touchdowns (5). His teammate, talented QB CHRIS SANDERS (6-2, 215, TN-Chattanooga) has been a steady hand for the Kansas City offense the last three games, including a Week 11 win against the Los Angeles Avengers, in which he set single-game franchise records in touchdown passes (7) and completion percentage (81.3). Led by DS DENARIO SMALLS (5-9, 185, East Tennessee State) Kansas City has played tough defense throughout the season, ranking second in the AFL in total defense (258.1 yards per game), first in passing defense (233.5 yards per game) and ninth in scoring defense (50.8 points per game).
