
AFL sets regular season total attendance record

NEW YORK â The Arena Football League has set a regular-season total attendance record. Through 14 weeks of the 2004 AFL season, total attendance is 1,510,768, topping the previous regular-season record of 1,458,830, which was set last season. The AFL is averaging 12,086 fans per game through 125 games. There are three weeks left in the regular season.
The League has set six attendance records this season. Week 1 (128,175 total; 14,242 average) broke four AFL attendance records â highest Week 1 total, highest Week 1 average, highest total for any week, and highest average for any week.
The AFL also reached one million fans faster than in any previous season, reaching the milestone in 81 games vs. 88 in 2003.
The 2004 season is on pace for 1,837,090 fans, which would represent a 26-percent increase over the previous record of 1,458,830 set in 2003. Following are the top five regular-season total attendance seasons in AFL history:
