AFL season gets underway with camp openings

NEW YORK - The Arena Football League's 22nd season officially gets underway in 25 days as the defending ArenaBowl XXI Champion San Jose SaberCats and Dallas Desperados become the first teams to report to training camp on Saturday, February 2.

All 17 AFL teams will have reported and begun training camp by Monday, February 11. On Friday, February 29, the Los Angeles Avengers host the New Orleans VooDoo at 10:30 p.m. ET to officially start the 2008 season. The first nationally televised game will air from The Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday, March 1 as the Georgia Force face the Desperados at 1 p.m. ET on ABC and ABC HD.

The Grand Rapids Rampage, Kansas City Brigade and New York Dragons are the second set of teams to begin training camp by reporting on Sunday, February 3. The Cleveland Gladiators, newly relocated from Las Vegas, begin their inaugural season on Tuesday, February 5, as they open training camp at MultiPlex Events & Sports in Warrensville Heights, OH.

The Tampa Bay Storm will be the last team to commence training camp when the team reports on Monday, February 11.
