Afl Arena Football League Expands Postseason Coverage

July 13, 2016 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

LAS VEGAS - The Arena Football League announced today that it will expand its postseason coverage with an additional game, as well as a primetime special featuring season highlights and 2016 All-Arena team introductions.

The added game, a first-round contest that will be hosted by Arizona, will be carried by CBS Sports Network on August 6.

The new season highlight program, "2016 All-Arena Show", will be telecast by CBS Sports Network immediately before the semifinals game on August 13, featuring a look back at the 2016 season. The League will use the platform to reveal its 2016 All-Arena teams for both offense and defense and name candidates for players and coach of the year.

"By adding the postseason game and highlights special, we think fans will have more reasons to tune in," said AFL Commissioner Scott C. Butera. "They'll be able to see a game with championship implications, enjoy a fast-paced recap of the season, and watch their hometown favorites receive awards recognizing outstanding season performances."

The change means that the League will forego two TV games on the last weekend of the regular season.
