Rio Grande Valley Dorados (5-1) AT LAREDO LOBOS (0-6)

FRIDAY, MAY 18, 2007 - Laredo Entertainment Center (8,067) 8:00 P.M. ET

The Dorados travel to Laredo this week for a Southwest Division matchup against the Lobos. Rio Grande Valley and Laredo have only met once before, earlier this season, with the Dorados earning a 72-49 victory. Rio Grande Valley, currently ranked No. 4 in the Coaches Poll, defeated Corpus Christi, 45-20, in Week 7. The win was the third in a row for the Dorados. QB JOSH KELLETT finished 19-for-33 passing with six TDs and 199 yards, distributing his scoring tosses to four different receivers. WR/DB JERMAINE CARPENTER and WR COCO BLALOCK each hauled in a pair of TD catches for Rio Grande Valley. WR TRAVIS MCALPINE and FB/LB MARCUS HARRIS were also recipients of Kellett touchdown passes. DB ANDRE GOINES led the team last week with 7.5 tackles and two interceptions. Blalock is the team's top playmaker on offense with 35 catches for 361 yards and six scores. He is also among the league leaders in kick returns. The Dorados defense has been impressive in 2007, leading the league in sacks (24) and ranking third overall in points per game allowed at 37.7. Laredo enters this week's contest still searching for its first win. The Lobos' most recent result was a 42-34 loss at Texas against the Copperheads. The game remained close through third quarters. Laredo, however, went scoreless in the fourth and allowed two scores from Texas to propel the Copperheads to victory. QB DANIEL FORREST was 18-of-37 passing for 225 yards and two touchdowns, but threw three costly interceptions. WR SHAUN ROCHON recorded eight catches for the day for 166 yards and one touchdown. Rochon leads the team in receiving yards (514) and total touchdowns with 10 (8 receiving, 2 rushing). WR MIKE MCCULLUM was also an offensive factor for Laredo with 39 receiving yards and one touchdown. DB EDDIE GIDDINGS had a strong defensive performance with 10.5 tackles and a 40-yard interception return touchdown. A top defender up front for Laredo was DL SABREE ANDERSON, who registered two sacks in the game. The Lobos will need an inspired effort for four quarters in order to stay close with the dangerous Dorados, who are ultra-talented on both sides of the ball.

EVERETT HAWKS (1-5) AT QUAD CITY STEAMWHEELERS (3-3)

FRIDAY, MAY 18, 2007 - The MARK of the Quad Cities (9,437) 8:30 P.M. ET

* Broadcast via B2 Networks

After a heartbreaking home loss on Monday, Everett had a short week to get ready for a tough road test at Quad City on Friday. This is the first meeting between the two teams. The Hawks most recent result was a 55-54 defeat against West Division foe Stockton. A last-second Lightning field goal by K ALEX WALLS was the difference. The decision spoiled what was the best outing of the season for Hawks rookie QB JASON CAMPBELL. Campbell completed 26-of-44 passes for 269 yards and eight touchdowns. WR/DB JOSH RICHEY was the strongest Hawks offensive playmaker of the day, gaining 123 yards on 11 catches, and scoring four touchdowns. WR/DB MARVIN BROWN and WR/LB PHIL GOODMAN had two touchdown receptions. Brown was a factor on defense as well, recording a team-high 5.5 tackles. DB AARON DUNKLIN also stood out in the secondary with 2.5 tackles, one fumble recovery and one interception, his third in the last two games. LBs MARKUS PRATT (15.5 tackles, 2 sacks) and ORLANDO MEDLOCK (2 TFLs in 2 games) key the forces on the defensive front. Quad City is glad to be back home after enduring three straight losses, all of which came on the road. Before their road excursions, the Steamwheelers were 3-0. In recent weeks, Quad City's offense is averaging just 35.3 points per game while the defense is allowing 53.3 points per game. That's quite a turnaround from the Steamwheelers of the first three contests of 2007 when the team was scoring almost 70 points per game (68.7) and giving up less than 35 (34.7). Quad City may be a bit road weary, however, as the team began the year playing five of its first six games on the road. The team won its only home game to date, 65-38, against Boise in Week 3. Rest will be assured moving forward as the Steamwheelers close out their schedule by hosting seven of their final 10 games at the MARK. Quad City's offensive weapons include WRs KRIS PETERS (46 catches, 630 yards, 12 TDs), THOMAS ANTHONY and JACK WALKER, JR. FB/LB JERMAINE PETTY has been a force on both sides of the ball. Petty leads the team in rushing touchdowns (7) and sacks (5). Another defender having a solid season for the Steamwheelers is DB KEVIN ADAMS. Adams leads the team in tackles (37.0) and ranks among the af2's elite with five interceptions. An improving Everett team has a lot of skill, but the team needs to continue to be efficient on offense and hold onto the football, especially this week against the ball-hawking Quad City defense. The Steamwheelers are tied for second overall in takeaways with 21 while Everett is ranked fourth in giveaways with 23.

CINCINNATI JUNGLE KATS (1-5) AT GREEN BAY BLIZZARD (3-3)

FRIDAY, MAY 18, 2007 - Resch Center (7,695) 8:30 P.M. ET

* Broadcast via B2 Networks

The Jungle Kats travel to Green Bay this Friday seeking their first road victory in team history and second win of the season. This will be the first meeting between Cincinnati and the Blizzard. The Jungle Kats are coming off their fifth loss of the season, a 51-21 home decision against Tennessee Valley in Week 7. QB BRENT RAWLS completed 13-of-27 passes with two touchdowns and one interception. WR DERIN GRAHAM caught five passes for 57 yards and one touchdown before sustaining an injury in the fourth quarter. Graham will be out for this week's game. WR/DB HASSAN BROCKMAN also contributed with four catches for 54 yards and one touchdown on offense and 9.5 tackles on defense. DB DEMETRIUS MCCRAY recorded 3.0 tackles and two interceptions, including a 16-yard INT return TD. McCray, who was playing in his first game of 2007, will go down in the record books as the man who ran back the first interception for a TD in Jungle Kats history. Cincinnati's fate was sealed when the Vipers outscored the Kats 23-0 in the fourth quarter. Green Bay, currently undefeated at home, is coming off an impressive 29-18 home victory last week against the Tri-Cities Fever. The game proved to be a defensive battle. Defense is the Blizzard's strong suit. They currently rank first in four categories on the defensive side, including points allowed per game (33.5). Green Bay held the Fever to their lowest point total of the season. Brothers RONNIE AMADI (7.0 tackles, 1 INT, 1 FR, 2 PBUs) and DONNIE AMADI (4.0 tackles, 1 FF) were the team's top performers in the secondary for the Blizzard. DL TYRE YOUNG also led a strong effort on behalf of Green Bay's force up front with one sack, one forced fumble and three quarterback hurries. Green Bay's win in Week 7 places them only a half a game behind Quad City for the Midwest Division lead. The Jungle Kats will scratch and claw to stay in the game, but the Blizzard look to have the advantage playing in their home arena.

MANCHESTER WOLVES (3-3) AT BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT BATTLE WINGS (5-1)

FRIDAY, MAY 18, 2007 - CenturyTel Center (12,500) 8:30 P.M. ET

Manchester travels down south to take on the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams. Manchester is seeking its first road win of 2007. The Wolves are currently 3-0 at home and 0-3 on the road. Manchester, currently ranked No. 15 in the Coaches Poll, evened its record at 3-3 last week with a hard-fought, 53-48, home win against Albany. Veteran WR JARRAIL JACKSON was the team's top offensive weapon with five touchdowns (4 receiving, 1 rushing) in the victory. The Wolves also got a big-time defensive performance from rookie DE MAURICE FOUNTAIN (3.0 tackles, 2.0 sacks, safety in the 4th quarter with 8.9 seconds left). On the season, Jackson leads the team in scoring (70 points) and is tied with WR ARI CONFESOR for the team lead in touchdown catches with 10. On the defensive side, Fountain is the team's top sack man with 6.0 (T2nd in af2), while veteran DB ALLISTAIR SEBASTIEN paces the squad with 36.5 tackles. The Wolves also made a big acquisition on Wednesday when the team was assigned QB MARK RADLINSKI. Radlinski came to Manchester after spending time on the practice squad of the AFL's Grand Rapids Rampage. Last season he played in all 16 games for the Tulsa Talons where as a rookie he threw for 3,748 yards and 80 touchdowns with a 60.1 percent completion rating. He also led the Talons in rushing with 142 total yards and 13 touchdowns and guided Tulsa to an impressive 11-5 record and a first place tie in the Midwest Division. Bossier-Shreveport (5-1, No. 5 in Coaches Poll) returns home this week after suffering its first loss of 2007 at the hands of the Arkansas Twisters, 64-50. The team is also dealing with another loss as starting QB QUINCY CARTER (34 touchdowns, 5 INTs) will sit out after being placed on team suspension on Thursday for missing an unspecified number of team meetings. Starting in his place will be rookie GARY COOPER (2-of-2 passing, 18 yards, 0 TD) from Grambling. Despite the loss of Carter, Bossier-Shreveport boasts a load of talent on both sides of the ball. Two of their top players include two former Wolves, WR Jamaal Perry (team-high 49 receptions, 649 yards, 12 touchdowns) and WR/LB Marc Bacote (6 catches, 42 yards, 2 TDs, 10.5 tackles, 1 INT return TD, 1 FR). Perry and Bacote played for the Wolves during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Other offensive weapons include WR/DB P.J. WINSTON (28 catches, 462 yards, 10 TDs) and FB/LB JASON SCHULE (160 rush yards, 7 TDs). Defensively, two notable names are DL ELEX REED (af2-leading 8.5 sacks) and DB KENNETH WILLIAMS (team-high 41.0 tackles, 3 INTs, 2 FR). Another strong overall talent for the Battle Wings is DB KENDRICK "BOSS" WALKER (team-high 5 INTs, 9 PBUs, 22.0 tackles). Walker, however, missed last week's game at Arkansas due to injury and it's unclear if he'll be ready to return by Friday. The Battle Wings, who have won all three of their home games this season, also have one of the league's best kickers in BRIAN HAZELWOOD (af2 all-time leader in FGs made - 43). If Cooper plays a steady game for Bossier-Shreveport and Radlinski performs magic for Manchester, this should be a highly-entertaining affair.

TULSA TALONS (6-0) AT AMARILLO DUSTERS (1-5)

FRIDAY, MAY 18, 2007 - Amarillo Civic Center (4,870) 8:30 P.M. ET

The undefeated Talons, currently ranked No. 2 in the latest Coaches Poll, makes their first trip to Amarillo this season to take on the Dusters. Tulsa and Amarillo have tackled each other once already in 2007. In that contest, the host Talons handled the Dusters, 77-44, led by QB JOSH BLANKENSHIP's eight touchdown passes. Tulsa enters this week's second go-round with Amarillo after securing a 60-42 home win against Lubbock in Week 7. Blankenship wasn't as sharp as usual, completing just 17-of-37 passes (45.9 percent), but still tossed six touchdowns without an interception. WRs DONOVAN MORGAN and JEFF HUGHLEY had two touchdown catches each. Hughley also had two short rushing TDs as well. Defensively, DB JERMAINE HOPE (team-high 7.5 tackles, 1 INT) and DL C.J. MCCLAIN (2.0 tackles, 1 sack) were factors for the Talons. Tulsa is a well-built team from top to bottom. Offensively, the team leads the league in points per game, averaging almost 65 points per contest (64.5). McLain (2.0 sacks in 3 games), Hope (27.5 tackles, 10 PBUs, team-high 3 INTs) and DELENELL REID (team-high 29.5 tackles, 11 PBUs, 2 INTs) lead a talented Talons defense which allows just 41.3 points per game. Amarillo has played well in spurts this year, but has just one win in six games to show for it. After a lopsided loss to the Talons in Week 3, the Dusters have endured four straight closely-contested defeats. Their last four losses have come by an average of just 4.5 points. Amarillo's most recent result was a 59-55 home loss last week against the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. QB STEVE PANELLA accounted for seven touchdowns to lead the Dusters in defeat. The veteran signal caller completed 20-of-32 passes for 200 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. He also had three rushing scores to up his af2-leading total to 11 on the season. Rookie WR STEVE BERGESKI had eight catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Bergeski has been Panella's top target in 2007 with 47 catches for 652 yards and 13 TDs. Defensively, DB AARON WILLIAMS had 6.0 tackles and a 37-yard INT return TD against Oklahoma City. Williams currently leads the squad in tackles (22.0) and interceptions (5). Despite the result of their first meeting, expect a much closer contest this week at the Amarillo Civic Center. If Tulsa doesn't look past the Dusters, the Talons' talent should prevail in the end.
