May 16, 2006 - arenafootball2 (af2) News Release

CHICAGO - Oklahoma City wide receiver/linebacker CHAVIS MCCOLLISTER, Florida offensive specialist MAGIC BENTON, and Quad City wide receiver/defensive back TROY GRAHAM have been named the U.S. Army Ironman, Schutt Offensive Player and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 7 of the 2006 season. In addition to these three awards, the recipient of the Cutters Catch of the Week Award goes to Green Bay defensive specialist RONNIE KAYMORE. The Catch of the Week is a new honor that highlights the player who makes the best catch of the week.

U.S. ARMY IRONMAN OF THE WEEK

McCollister (5-9, 210, Tarleton), in his second af2 season, was a key force on both sides of the ball in Oklahoma City's important, 56-44, Midwest Division win in Week 7 at Arkansas. He did most of his damage on defense, intercepting two passes, including one that he returned for a touchdown. He also recorded one fumble recovery and one tackle. McCollister also caught four passes for 27 yards and one touchdown on offense. This is the first league award of McCollister's career and the second af2 honor bestowed to a member of the Yard Dawgz in as many weeks. Oklahoma City QB Craig Strickland garnered Schutt Offensive Player of the Week honors for his superb showing in Week 6.

SCHUTT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Benton (6-0, 195, Miami) led Florida to an impressive, 62-44, Week 7 home win over South Division rival Birmingham. The five-year veteran's offensive exploits included 11 receptions for a game-high 133 yards and an af2 season-high tying five touchdowns. Benton's night was also historic because he became the new af2 career leader in two receiving categories - receptions (407) and receiving touchdowns (117). The former University of Miami product also owns the league record for career receiving yards, a mark he set earlier this season. This is the second league honor of Benton's career. He earned the Ironman of the Week Award in Week 12 of the 2002 season.

ADT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Graham (6-2, 208, North Carolina St.) sparked the Quad City defense in the team's important Week 7 home win in overtime against East Division rival Louisville, 68-62. The af2 rookie from North Carolina State recorded a game-high 9.5 tackles (7 solo, 5 assisted) and also had one interception and one pass breakup. Graham's interception was a vital one as it came in the fourth quarter and led to an important Quad City touchdown. This is the first weekly league honor of Graham's career.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK

Green Bay defensive specialist Ronnie Kaymore (6-0, 190, Texas A&M Kingsville), who is in his second season in the af2, is the Week 7 recipient of the new Cutters Catch of the Week Award, a weekly honor that has emerged this year to highlight the player who makes the best catch of the week. Kaymore's catch was a leaping fourth-quarter interception in the endzone that saved a touchdown. Kaymore also recorded 5.0 tackles as the Blizzard scored an important 53-19 win against Macon. The victory, which was Green Bay's first at home this season, snapped the squad's three-game losing streak.
