Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF Academy defender Adrián Rosario has been called up by the Puerto Rican U-17 national team for the Concacaf U-17 Championship. Rosario will join his national team teammates for a training camp at the Albergue Olímpico in Salinas, Puerto Rico from Feb. 13 to 17 before the team travels to Guatemala for the competition. The tournament will be taking place from Feb. 11 to 26 and grant the top four teams qualification to the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.
Although the U-17 CONCACAF Championship kicks off on Feb. 11, Rosario and Puerto Rico won't play their first match in the competition until Feb. 19 following the group stage, as Puerto Rico is one of four nations that advanced directly to the Round of 16 knockout phase via pre-tournament qualifying.
Rosario, 15, has previous experience at the international level, with this call up being his second since joining Inter Miami. The defender most recently was summoned for the Concacaf U-17 Qualifiers held last year in Bradenton, Fla. from late August to early September.
At club level, he enjoyed a highly successful first season at the Club with the Academy's U-15 team in the 2021-22 season. Rosario, who has since made the jump to the Academy's U-16 side for the ongoing 2022-23 campaign, was part of the U-15 squad that helped the team be MLS NEXT Flex group winners, qualify for the 2022 edition of the Generation adidas Cup and win the U-15 MLS NEXT Cup to be crowned national champions.
Rosario is among a growing list of current and former Inter Miami CF Academy players to be called up to a national team, including: Noah Allen, Nicholas Almeida, Tyler Austin, Edison Azcona, Logan Batiste, Israel Boatwright, Benjamin Cremaschi, Bryan Destin, Justin Ellis, Victor Fung, Tyler Hall, Santiago Morales, David Ruiz and Felipe Valencia, among others.
