BATHURST, Thursday, July 5, 2007 - The Acadie-Bathurst Titan organization today announced the hiring of Denis Francoeur as their new head coach. Francoeur inherits the bench boss duties from John Chabot, who submitted his resignation earlier this week to accept an assistant coaching position with the New York Islanders.

Francoeur has extensive Quebec Major Junior Hockey League head coaching experience having guided the Shawinigan Cataractes to a total of 360 regular season wins over parts of ten seasons. He also won 36 playoff games over that span. Following the 2000-01 campaign, Francoeur was awarded the Ron-Lapointe Trophy as Coach of the Year.

He was let go by the Cataractes eighteen games into the 2005-06 season. The Titan offered Francoeur a three-year contract to come back to the QMJHL.

"I feel very privileged to be able to come back to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League," commented Francoeur. "While I was on the sidelines, I realized how much of a privilege it is to coach in the "Q" and I'm very grateful to Léo-Guy Morrissette and Sylvain Couturier for giving me this opportunity."

Asked about his short term goals, Francoeur said he looked forward to training camp to get a better idea of the players in the organization. "Sylvain (Couturier) and I will look at every single player in the organization to give me a better idea of what we have. Then, I'll be able to form my own opinion once camp begins."
