Texas Charge News Release
The Woodlands, TX (June 18, 2016) - The Dallas Charge continued their four game series against the Scrap Yard Dawgs Saturday afternoon and faced Monica Abbott for the second consecutive time. Abbott was stellar again, striking out eight batters helping the Dawgs prevail 4-1.
The Dallas Charge pitched by committee Saturday starting Andi Williamson. A slow start by the Charge defense that included an error, three walks, a hit batter and a single, staked the Dawgs to an early 2-0 lead.
Jill Compton relieved Williamson in the third. The Fresno St. grad shut down the Dawgs for two innings before surrendering a two-run home run to Christian Stokes in the top of the fifth. The shot to center field extended the lead to four.
Charge catcher, Kaylyn Castillo, hit her first home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth. The long ball would end the scoring.
Morgan Melloh relieved Compton for the Charge in the sixth and Ivy Renfroe spelled Abbott in the seventh. The 4-1 final score dropped the Charge to 4-8 on the season while the Dawgs moved to 5-7.
