ABA to Raleigh/Durham in 2005

Published on July 22, 2004 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA Co-founder, today confirmed that an ABA team will play in Raleigh/Durham in 2005. According to Newman, "We have a very energetic young ownership group there and the progress they've made, even before the first announcement, is fantastic. They could almost play in 2004."

Newman continued, "And once again, we have a woman at the helm, Anna Marie Fryan, a sports-minded businesswoman in the publishing and software development industry. I don't want to scoop the big news coming out but felt it important to confirm the rumors. I'm sure Ann Marie and her associates will be making big news soon as well as introducing some incredibly creative marketing concepts that will really turn some heads, not only at the team level, but for the entire ABA. We are very pleased and proud to have them - and they'll certainly make North Carolina interesting in a rivalry with The Carolina Thunder."
