ABA Salutes Army Solider of the Year
October 11, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The ABA salutes Spc. John Emmett, a member of the Army Reserve who was mobilized three years ago, and has been named Army's Soldier of the Year. A native of Greenwood, Indiana and now stationed in Germany, he was chosen from U.S. Army commands worldwide over nine other finalists.
"It means a lot and it comes initially with great surprise and thankfulness for what this competition's done, but also it comes with a great amount of responsibility to where you feel you need to respect your fellow soldiers to encourage them to motivate them by leading a strong example," said Spc. Emmett. Emmett represented the U.S. Army Europe command in the Warrior Competition and is a signal support system specialist with the 21st Theatre Support Command.
ABA Salute is an arm of the ABA that makes donations every month through various fund-raising efforts including ABA Auctions for support of our armed forces and their families. For more information, email jennifer@abasalute.com or visit www.abasalute.com.
