ABA Returns to Little Rock
Published on July 22, 2010 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.abalive.com today announced that it will return to Little Rock Arkansas for the 2011 season. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We have been looking for exactly the right owner for Little Rock, and in Bernard Brown, we've found that person. The Arkansas Rimrockers, 2005 champions, hold the record ABA attendance with nearly 15,000 fans turning out for the championship game. We were sorry the team moved to the NBDL and then folded. The fan base there was huge; they loved their ABA team, and now they'll have it back."
Bernard Brown is the owner of Sports Management Worldwide, a company specializing in regulations, player association legalities, contract negotiation, endorsements, sponsorships, ethics, collective bargaining issues, draft preparation, marketing and recruiting. A native of Sweet Home, AR, he grew up passionate about sports, especially basketball and worked as a paralegal for several law firms for fourteen years. "I believe that my legal expertise and desire to help young people achieve their dreams allows me to assist my clients to get the most out of their athletic ability," stated Brown. "My love for the game has motivated me to go a step further in the pursuit of achieving my lifelong dream, owning my own professional basketball team. That dream has come to fruition with me becoming the proud owner of an ABA team in Little Rock - and you can be sure we will be doing some very special things here. This was one of the most successful ABA cities ever - and it will be again."
