ABA names teams for Moses Malone Division
July 6, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association today announced the teams that will play in its Moses Malone Division starting in November. The teams are Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Gallup, Juarez and Tijuana.
Joe Newman, ABA CEO, commented, "With all of the talk about high school players who have made an immediate impact on professional basketball, one of the greatest was Moses Malone. He set the pace for all these great players who have followed. We're proud to be able to name a division in his honor. He went onto a great career in both the ABA and NBA. This will be an interesting division with the Mexican teams, the Native American influence on the New Mexico teams, and of course, all of the "showbiz" that Gil Morgan and Roy Hammonds provide in Las Vegas. Should be fun."
