ABA Expands to Lafayette, LA

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.abalive.com today announced it would expand next season to Lafayette, Louisiana with the addition of the Lafayette United basketball team owned by Kevin Williams. "This is truly a family affair and a terrific organiation," stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. "In an email to me, Kevin said "I would like to thank my beautiful wife Tiffany Williams, my parents Roosevelt and Lillian Countee and Stewart Williams, and my brother Christopher Williams for their continued support. I would also like to thank my sfaff Vera Bessard, Henry Curtis, Shayla Woods, Traci Bessard, Tamina Chenier, Mallory Woods, Brennan Dunn, Tanisha Green, Roosevelt Countee Jr, Philip Petry, Brit Grays and Erica Campbell for making it possible for me to bring the first professional basketball team to Southwest Louisiana." With that kind of backing, how can this team be anything but a great success?
Kevin Williams is a native ot Houston, Texas who has always had a passion for basketball. In his early years, he played at local YMCAs, recreation centers and AAU prior to attending Forest Brook High School where he lettered in both basketball and baseball. He attended Tillotson College in Austin TX on scholarship and began work in the community coaching YMCA basketball. He is currently a coach of an under 17 team.
"I have always wanted to own a professional basketball team and am very thankful the ABA has given me this wonderful opportunity," stated Williams. "I can now pursue and achieve my dreams. I'm excited about joining the ABA and looking forward to being very competitive in the Southwest Division.
