April 9, 2010 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. "The ABA season is over, but still there are a lot of players who want to compete during the spring and summer and get ready for the fall/winter season," stated Dick Packer, ABA President. "Thanks to the hard work of our West Texas Whirlwind owner, Cleveland Phelps, players will have just that chance with a new ABA Summer League that will feature four or more ABA teams."

Presently, there are four teams that will compete, including the North Texas Fresh, the West Texas Whirlwinds, the new Texas RimRockers and Oklahoma Stallions. "It is quite possible that we will be adding the New Mexico Stars," stated Phelps. "This will give the new ABA teams as look at how things are done in the ABA, including how to coach, our unique rules. We're calling this the Lone Star Professional Baskketball League and we certainly are open to additional teams." for more information, contact Cleveland Phelps at midlandwhirlwinds@yahoo.com or visit www.lspbl.sports.officelive.com or www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
