ABA Announces First Ten All-Star Selections

Indianapolis, Ind.-The American Basketball Association today announced 10 participants in ABA All-Star Weekend, which the Vermont Frost Heaves will host at the Barre (Vt.) Municipal Auditorium on March 21 and 22.

Among the East All-Stars, who will be coached by Vermont's Will Voigt, are Anthony Anderson, a 5'11" guard with the Manchester Millrats; Samuel Audet-Sow, a 6'6" forward with the Quebec Kebekwa; Tommy Mitchell, a 6'3" guard with the Montreal Royal; and Eric Crookshank, a 6'8" forward with the Halifax Rainmen. Two Vermont Frost Heaves, 6'8" forward Issa Konare and 6'5" forward Antonio Burks, will also participate, with Burks replacing 6'3" guard Terrance Green, who is out for the season with a knee injury.

The West All-Stars under Texas Tycoons coach Jean-Paul Afif will feature two of Afif's own players, 6'2" guard Mario Kinsey and 6'8" forward Randall Williams. In addition, two members of the San Diego Wildcats, 6'10" forward Jerome Habel and 6'4" guard Cardell Butler, will suit up for the West. 6'9" guard Sun Yue and 6'6" swingman Jamel Staten of Beijing Ao-Shen Olympian made the West team, but neither will be able to participate because of other commitments.

More All-Stars will be announced later this week.

Tickets for All-Star Weekend are available for in-person purchase at Allen Lumber in Barre; First In Fitness in Montpelier; and the Flynn Regional Box Office at 153 Main Street in Burlington. Fans may also call 802-86-FLYNN or go to flynntix.org. Tickets are available for each individual session or in special packages that include both days' events.

The weekend will feature Hot Shots and Dunks on Friday night beginning at 7 p.m., with ABA All-Star Slam Dunk and Three-Point Contests sandwiched around a Three-Point Contest for Vermont high school senior boys and girls presented by Community National Bank.

The ABA All-Star Classic presented by the Vermont State Employees Credit Union will tip off at 1:05 p.m., and feature the All-Star Halftime Showcase presented by M&M Beverage Centers.

The Manchester Millrats are lending logistical support to the Frost Heaves for All-Star Weekend.

The ABA All-Star Classic will be Webcast free at vermontfrostheaves.com for viewing live and in archived rebroadcast, while the radio call will be carried over the Vermont Frost Heaves Basketball Radio Network, which originates with WSNO AM 1450 in Barre and is also accessible from the Frost Heaves' Web site.
