Minnesota Thunder News Release
ST. PAUL, Minn. (Monday, May 8, 2006)--The Minnesota Thunder has named Aaron Leventhal as the team's strength and conditioning coach. Leventhal, a former Thunder player, will be responsible for the conditioning of the team in the off-season as well as during the season. Leventhal will also run the Thunder camp recently renamed the Jostens High School Prep Camp in August, which will focus on preparing high school soccer players for their fall seasons. He will also be spending time with the new women's premier soccer team, the Minnesota Lightning.
"We have already made great progress this season," said Leventhal. "I'm looking forward to both building the physical attributes of the Thunder as well as maintaining their level of fitness through a grueling five month season."
Aaron Leventhal played for the Thunder from 1992-2001. He retired in 2002 to open Aaron Leventhal Training Studios in Minneapolis. Leventhal is certified as an NSCA trainer and holds certifications in Pilates, N-stretch, and Reactive Neuromuscular Training. His clients include US Olympic skier Kristina Koznick, Survivor Africa winner Ethan Zohn and professional golfer, Kris Lindstrom. He also currently works with over 100 skiers and soccer players participating in Olympic development programs.
"I have worked with several strength coaches in my 15 year professional career," said Thunder Coach Amos Magee. "The work Aaron does with our players is far and away the hardest, most demanding and best of any of them. Utilizing coach Leventhal, we will undoubtedly be among the fittest and most athletic teams in the USL."
Aaron Leventhal is currently running an Elite Prep Training Program designed for high level athletes of all competitive sports. The Jostens High School Prep Camp August 7-11 in St. Paul will focus on preparing high school soccer players for their fall seasons through a combination of strength, conditioning and technical work specific to soccer.
