A Partnership to Sink Your Teeth Into: Chipwich Becomes Official Ice Cream Sandwich of the NWHL

August 12, 2019 - Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) News Release

The Original Chipwich® has finalized a sponsorship agreement with the National Women's Hockey League to become "The Official Ice Cream Sandwich of the NWHL" for the 2019-20 season.

"Chipwich is proud to support the efforts of the NWHL to establish professional women's hockey in North America," said David Clarke, the CEO of Crave Better Foods, the owners of Chipwich®. "With Chipwich, we proved that an iconic product can be made better. There's no doubt that the NWHL makes hockey better by giving these incredible athletes the opportunity to play at the highest level. We look forward to sharing in the excitement on and off the ice."

In 2018, Crave Better Brands revived the iconic Chipwich ice cream cookie sandwich. Today, Chipwich - made with premium ice cream, all-natural cookies and real chocolate chips - can be found on shelves in major grocery and convenience stores, including where the NWHL plays its games.

As an NWHL partner, Chipwich will sponsor select intermission activities during games and receive significant social media promotion, plus additional activations.

As part of the NWHL-NWHL Players' Association agreement, players under contract for the upcoming season receive a 50 percent split of revenue from all league-level sponsorship and media deals. Revenue from the partnership agreement with Chipwich will be split in half with NWHL players, resulting in additional income beyond their salaries for playing.

"As if Chipwich wasn't loved enough in America, now the legendary brand has stepped up to support professional women's hockey, and for that we are deeply appreciative of their partnership," said NWHL founder and commissioner Dani Rylan. "Our league and our players will be proud ambassadors for and consumers of Chipwich all season long."
