A Message from Bill Schurman

December 24, 2010 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

On behalf of the Lewiston MAINEiacs organization it is my privilege to extend to all within "Lewy's Legion" including our corporate partners, season ticket holders and our loyal fans our sincere wishes for a safe happy holiday and a very Merry Christmas.

To many, this is considered the half way point of our year. Our season to date has truly been a blessing in many ways.

We send our heartfelt thanks to those who have come forward to volunteer their time, energy and talents to help with our goal to be the "community's team". Your dedication and loyalty is respected and appreciated not just at this time of the year but each and every day.

Our staff, from the hockey and administrative side to our game day crew have been challenged day in and day out to be the best they can be, while working with professionalism, passion and pride. We understand we can't be all things to all people however we take the responsibility of being role models for the community very seriously in everything that we do.

Our players, billet families and parents have been everything we could have hoped for when we first met during training camp in August. Players have been challenged to compete at a high level, to work hard on their education, to get to know and understand the community that we play for by giving back and supporting as many events and activities as possible.

We especially wish those players that have been injured during the first half a speedy recovery and send our prayers.

Billets and parents have been challenged to provide the support needed to have our players safe, healthy and happy for which we are thankful.

While operating a business such as a high profile team in a high profile hockey league is challenging at the best of times, operating one that in all honesty has been in a struggle offers additional challenges to all of us. It seems almost daily that someone suggests something that we have done wrongly in the past or that we are not going to make it. All we can say is whatever we may have done that may have offended some, we are sorry. All we can promise is to work as hard as we can to gain the support we need to pay our bills to those that supply services to us...just like any other business.

We have attempted as an organization to meet these challenges head on and to be honest with our response and our actions.

We appreciate your patience with us and we thank you for the support we have received.

We have just worked our way back to the top 10 in the CHL, which is a fitting way to look at where were started and the distance we have traveled as a TEAM.

We have a long way to go to be the best of the best. You can rest assured we will not waiver in our commitment to you to offer Major Junior Hockey in a Major Junior way.

All of us, wish all of you the very, very best. We'll look forward to seeing you on the 28th at Gippers our official Road Warrior location and on the 30th as we work with State Farm and the annual Teddy Bear Toss, plus wishing Victoriaville a MAINEiac happy new year!

Sincerely,

Bill Schurman
