A Letter from the General Manager
January 10, 2014 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Valley Blue Sox News Release
We hope this letter finds you all well and that you're staying warm during what's been an incredibly cold winter! On behalf of the Blue Sox - we want to wish you - our fans - nothing but the best and are looking forward to everything that 2014 will bring. Over the fall and winter, there have been numerous changes to our organization - exciting changes that we feel will make us stronger and more competitive heading into the future. We wanted to take the time to share some of those changes with you and bring you up to speed with all that we have in store for coming season and beyond.
Those changes began with new owner and President Clark Eckhoff in the late summer and continued into the fall with the hiring of Hunter Golden as the new General Manager. Together, we're excited to forge aheadhttp://www.valleybluesox.com and create a new, shared vision for sustained success for our organization and baseball in the Pioneer Valley.
From here on out, the Blue Sox will be an organization moving forward, with championship aspirations on and off the field. We'll be accountable as an organization, accountable to each other and most importantly, we'll carry out our work with a passion about what we do that people in our community will see every day. There's a lot to get excited about and we promise to stay true to our vision and strategy, which is about creating a sustainable, multidimensional winner on and off the field.
All those things we mentioned will be big changes, but we are also acutely aware that they won't happen overnight and they won't happen just because of one person. With a team effort - everyone in our organization TOGETHER - can help build a solid foundation that delivers sustained success for the Blue Sox.
Sustained success begins with a steadfast commitment to scouting and player identification. Part of our job is to build a baseball operations department that is progressive, effective and united. We plan to bring in some of the brightest baseball minds in our area to help make our team the very best it can be. To that end, we'll use every bit of information we can gather - from scouting to objective data - so that our evaluations can come into clearer focus. Together, we'll work to define and implement a new vision for the Blue Sox on the field.
In addition, our championship caliber team on the field has to be complimented by an equally potent team off it; those people being the staff and volunteers who represent our brand in the community, to children, families and our corporate partners. Together, we will work together to create an unforgettable brand of family entertainment that exceeds expectations, creates memories and leaves a lasting, impactful impression on our community.
Simply put, we feel that our community deserves a winning team that is as passionate about baseball as they are. Our players deserve to know they're coming to a place where they can succeed and take their game to the next level. Our corporate partners deserve to know that we'll work together side-by-side with them to help them achieve their goals. Our fans deserve to know that they'll experience a high-caliber of family entertainment each and every night at the park.
Achieving sustained success will require a team of people working passionately to support a common vision of what we can become. Success will happen because of an account executive that goes the extra mile for a corporate partner. It'll happen because of a player who finds a new grip for a teammate's changeup that works. It'll happen because our staff stays an extra few minutes to work with a child at a clinic. It'll happen because our coaching staff will be more prepared than their counterparts across the field. It will happen because our players, ownership, staff and advisory board will band together, support each other, overcome adversity and work hard to make our fans proud.
We'd like to thank everyone for receiving us so fondly into the Blue Sox family. We deeply appreciate your faith in us and promise to repay you with the hard work and dedication that you deserve in 2014. We're already making preparations for the season that will make this year's Blue Sox season the best one yet. Stay safe, stay warm and enjoy the snow! Baseball will be here soon!
Sincerely,
Hunter Golden, General Manager
Clark Eckhoff, President
