Indiana Fever News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Jessica Davenport of the Indiana Fever has been diagnosed with a stress fracture to her left tibia and will miss 6 to 8 weeks of the upcoming WNBA season. A 6-5 center and a six-year WNBA veteran out of Ohio State, Davenport was a vital part of the Fever's championship run in 2012. She averaged 6.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in her fourth season with the club.
Indiana, also playing without third-year guard Jeanette Pohlen who continues rehabilitation after a torn ACL in last year's WNBA Finals, fell to San Antonio, 64-58, in Wednesday afternoon's preseason finale. The Fever and Silver Stars will meet again next Friday, May 24, in San Antonio in the regular season opener for both teams.
A WNBA playoff participant in eight straight seasons and nine times since 2002, the Indiana Fever became the champion of women's professional basketball after defeating the Minnesota Lynx for the 2012 WNBA Championship. The Fever is the only team in WNBA history to record seven 20-win seasons during an 8-year span, a current streak that dates to 2005. During that time, the Fever has reached at least the Eastern Conference Finals five times while appearing in the WNBA Finals in 2009 and 2012. Indiana hosts its 2013 home opener on Friday, May 31 (7:00 p.m.) against the Atlanta Dream. For 2013 season ticket information, visit FeverBasketball.com or call (317) 917-2528.
