Longview-Kelso, Washington, Thursday, November 3, 2011: Fans will get their first look at the 2012 Cowlitz Black Bears on Tuesday night, June 5th. The 2012 Cowlitz Black Bears schedule is finalized, and the West Coast League team will play 33 home games next summer at the new Story Field in Longview.
"You know the off-season excitement is starting to build when next season's schedule is finalized," Black Bears General Manager Grant Wilson said. "Besides the excitement of actually seeing who and when we're going to play, we can really start developing our promotional schedule. The response from our fans and corporate sponsors has been overwhelming, and it's great to be able to give them this schedule. Now the process of filling promotional dates starts, and we'll have many announcements along the way."
The schedule features 27 league games, five games against teams from the WCL Portland, and a game against the WCL Portland All-Star team August 5th. The Black Bears season begins Tuesday, June 5, and concludes Thursday, August 9th. The best-of-three Divisional Play-Offs kick-off Saturday, August 11, while the best-of-three Championship Series starts Wednesday, August 15.
"We're planning a number of exciting promotional nights at the ballpark," added Wilson. "Events like the Diamond Dig, Fireworks, Dash for Cash, $2 Tuesdays and more."
