Iron Coach Kenny Stucker Enters Ball State Hall of Fame

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State University will induct four individuals -- Joy Gallagher (swimming), Cassy Herode (volleyball), Paul Schudel (football) and Kenny Stucker (football) -- into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame Jan. 30-31.
The public is invited to join the Ball State athletics department in honoring the 2008-09 class at the Friday, Jan. 30, induction ceremony at the school's Alumni Center. The inductees will also be honored at the Jan. 31, men's basketball game vs. Ohio at 2 p.m. in Worthen Arena.

"We are pleased to induct these outstanding individuals into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame," says Tom Collins, Ball State's director of intercollegiate athletics. "They each enjoyed great careers at Ball State and we welcome them to our Hall of Fame family."
Gallagher earned four letters in swimming at Ball State from 1993-97. She completed her career as the winningest swimmer (male or female) in Ball State history with 117 individual victories and 62 relay wins. Gal- lagher, who was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team as a senior, earned honor- able mention on the NCAA All-America Team after fnishing ninth in the 50-yard freestyle and 14th in the 100 free at the 1997 NCAA Championships. She was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Year as a junior and senior plus earned All-MAC honors in her fnal three seasons. She fnished her career with a 45-2 record in the 50 free in dual meets, including a span of 41 consecutive wins in dual meet events.
Herode earned four letters as a member of the women's volleyball team from 1991-94, and was selected the MAC Player of the Year as a senior. Herode was voted to the All-MAC First Team for a second straight season in 1994, becoming only the second player in Ball State history and just the 20th in league history to achieve the distinction. She was a member of the 1992 team which advanced to the NCAA Tournament, the 1993 squad which won the MAC Championship and competing in the NCAA Championships and the 1994 team which won the MAC title and competed in a third straight NCAA Tournament.
Schudel posted a 60-48-4 career coaching record as Ball State's head football coach from 1985-94. He guided the Cardinals to the 1989 MAC Championship and the school's frst ever NCAA Division IA bowl game -- the California Raisin Bowl. Schudel, who ranks second in Ball State history with 60 football coaching wins, also led the Cardinals to the 1993 MAC title and a berth in the Las Vegas Bowl. In his fnal seven seasons, he guided Ball State to a 37-18-3 conference mark, including a 12-3-2 record in his last two seasons as the Car- dinals head coach. He completed his Ball State coaching career ranked ffth in MAC history with 47 victories.
Stucker earned four letters as a placekicker on the Ball State football team from 1988-91. He was named to the All-MAC First Team as a junior and senior after being named to the second team as a freshman and sophomore. Stucker connected on 93-of-96 extra points and 62-of-87 feld goals in his career with a career best 52-yard feld goal in his senior season vs. Central Michigan. Stucker was selected to play in Blue-Gray College Football All-Star Game after completing his Ball State career and connected on his only two feld goal attempts plus set a Blue-Gray game record with a 71-yard punt. He completed his career ranked second at Ball State in career points scored (279), extra points made (93) and career feld goals made (62).
