Two franchises dropped from 2007 USBL season
April 17, 2007 - United States Basketball League (USBL) News Release
Milford, CT - (April 17, 2007) The United States Basketball League (USBL) announced today that the New Jersey and Long Island franchises are no longer operating for the 2007 season.
"The New Jersey and Long Island franchises are not able to meet the financial obligations to operate this year," stated Ed Krinsky, USBL Director of Operations. "We must drop them from the schedule and move forward with the eight teams we have."
The USBL is rescheduling games among all eight remaining franchises. The league is making a concerted effort to keep most home dates the same and change only the night's visiting opponent. Currently scheduled games not involving Long Island and New Jersey will still be played until the league issues a revised schedule.
"There is no set timetable for all of these changes to take place, however Ed and the teams are working diligently to revise the schedule," said Jacob Gordon, the league's Director of Public Relations. "The United States Basketball League apologizes to the fans, media and team personnel for the confusion and delays that have resulted from this matter."
