Katy and Frisco to Join IFL in 2007, More to Come
October 25, 2006 - Intense Football League (Intense) News Release
Corpus Christi, Texas.: The Intense Football league is pleased to announce the 6th and 7th franchises for the 2007 season. Kicking off April 14th, the IFL expects to have a schedule released in Early November and will include both Frisco and Katy in the mix.
Florida businessman Michael Taylor along with league President Chad Dittman and league Vice President Tommy Benizio will be launching the yet-to-be-named Frisco franchise over the coming weeks. With home games being played at the Stars Dr. Pepper Center, the IFL looks to capitalize on the communities pride and love for sports. Local ownership will be added as soon as qualified individuals are identified. The current group plans on having a formal announcement soon.
In South Texas, the near-Houston community of Katy announced it's new ownership group and management team today at a press conference. Supported by the Katy Chamber of Commerce, local businessman Steve Martin lead the announcements accompanied by team owners Brandon and Albert Smith. The Smiths are a father and son duo who own Allegiance HR Solutions, a staffing company with office in Houston, El Paso, Odessa, and College Station. They formed Allegiance Pro Sports, LLC and purchased not only the Katy franchise for play in 2007, but also a franchise in El Paso, Texas for the 2008 season. While negotiations with the arena in El Paso are ongoing, Katy will begin work on the sale of season tickets and sponsorships as well as a name-the-team contest and the search for a head coach. Further announcements will be coming over the next couple of weeks.
The addition of these two franchises brings the IFL up to seven teams. Several other cities are being reviewed for IFL franchises for both the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
Further information on expansion or any other topics can be gained by contacting the league offices at (361) 814-PASS (7277) or by logging on to the leagues web site at www.IntenseFootballLeague.net.
