Minnesota Swarm News Release

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm general manager Marty O'Neill today announced the team's protected list for the upcoming National Lacrosse League (NLL) Expansion Draft. The league will determine the date of the draft at a later time.

Below is the list of protected and exposed players for the Minnesota Swarm.

The Expansion Draft will consist of nine rounds with the first selection going to Portland because they won a coin flip with Edmonton at the Board of Governors Meetings earlier this month. Each team is allowed to protect either 13 runners and a goaltender, or 10 runners and two goaltenders. Players that are left unprotected will become available for selection by Edmonton and Portland in the upcoming Expansion Draft.

As a player is selected from a team, that team's General Manager can then choose to protect an additional player who was previously available. No team can lose more than two players in the draft. Once a team has had two of its unprotected players selected, the remaining players on that team's list are no longer eligible for selection.
