
Outlaws draw best guns as training camp opens

(Kansas City, MO --- September 23, 2004) â The Kansas City Outlaws have named Ice Sports (19900 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66218) the official practice rink, as training camp begins in Shawnee on Monday, October 4. The 48 hockey hopefuls will be trimmed to a 20-man roster as they are split into three teams during Hyatt Regency Crown Center Championship Week. The winning team (schedule below) will dine in luxury in Skies Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center.

"Training Camp will be cutthroat and demanding as we have invited 48 quality players from around the world to Kansas City," said Joe Bucchino, General Manager of the Kansas City Outlaws. "Coach Darryl Williams will work the players to find a cohesive team that will produce a winning product beginning October 15 at Kemper Arena."
"The Outlaws will do more than practice at Ice Sports in Shawnee," said Richard Adler, President of the Kansas City Outlaws. "We will work with the youth hockey programs at Ice Sports as well as the other area youth programs as we strive to grow the sport of hockey throughout the Kansas City Metro."
Former Kansas City Blades Jeff DaDill and Jason Herter will assist Coach Williams with player evaluations and coaching during training camp.
Kansas City Outlaws opening weekend is Friday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Kemper Arena against the Missouri River Otters. The Kansas City Outlaws (www.kansascityoutlaws.com) officially joined the United Hockey League in July of 2004. Owner Stephen Franke of Chillicothe, MO brought the professional minor league expansion franchise to Kansas City, MO. The Kansas City Outlaws new home is Global Spectrum-managed Kemper Arena of the American Royal Complex.
