8th Straight for Streaking Bolts

(SUDBURY, ON) - The Lightning put their perfect start to their season on the line tonight as they headed to the Nickel City to take on the home town Sudbury Five who were hoping to play spoiler. Fortunately for Bolts fans, the Lightning made handy work of the Five, winning 114-101 Thursday night.

The Lightning were without big man Amir Williams for the night as he was placed on the COVID- 19 In-Active list earlier in the day. Despite the lack of size upfront, the Bolts were able to take an early lead over the Five and hold on through several runs. It was a tightly contested first half but London was able to head into the half with a 52-49 lead.

The third quarter was a whole different story. London would outscore the Five 36-21 and turn a three point lead into 18 by the end of the third quarter. The Lightning were able to extend their lead to as much as 21 early in the fourth before cooling off late. With just under two minutes left in the game, Coach Plumb would be ejected after the officiating crew missed an out of bounds play that lead to a Sudbury three pointer. Assistant Michael Provenzano would finish the game for Coach Plumb, leading the Lightning to the 114-101 decision.

Chris Jones had the hot hand on the night. Scoring 30 points on 12-22 shooting and hitting 5-9 from deep. Jones added 7 rebounds 4 assists on the night. Cam Forte added another double- double to his total with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Jaylon Tate led the team with a game- high 6 assists and 17 points. Jermaine Haley (15 points), Terry Thomas (13 points) and Jordan Jensen-Whyte (11 points) rounded out the scoring for the Bolts.

Leading the Five was Jeremy Harris who posted 27 points and 9 rebounds on the night.

Canadian Jason Calliste made his return and scored 21 points while big man Zeno Edosomwan added a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds. Despite not knowing when to stop shooting, Dexter Williams added 17 points on an ice cold 6-22 shooting.
