
38 CBA Alums Appear on Opening-Night Rosters for NBA 2005-06 Season

Boise, ID (November 1, 2005) - The 2005-06 NBA season tips off tonight with four games on the slate and 38 former Continental Basketball Association players on the rosters of the 30 NBA teams. Five players appeared in the CBA last season and 13 players have appeared in the CBA in the past two seasons.
Among those players that were in CBA uniforms just a year ago are Jackie Butler (N.Y. Knicks), Kasib Powell (Chicago Bulls), Awvee Storey (Washington Wizards), Lonny Baxter (Houston Rockets), and John Thomas (Memphis Grizzlies). The other eight players who appeared on CBA rosters in the past two years are Eddie Gill (Indiana Pacers), Smush Parker (L.A. Lakers), Linton Johnson (New Jersey Nets), Lee Nailon (Philadelphia 76ers), Zendon Hamilton (Cleveland Cavaliers), Josh Davis (Milwaukee Bucks), Keith McLeod (Utah Jazz), and Anthony Goldwire (L.A. Clippers).
When the NBA training camps began several weeks ago, 59 CBA alums were competing for a spot in the league.
Two NBA coaches with CBA ties will be going head-to-head tonight as Philadelphia visits Milwaukee. Maurice Cheeks, who coached the past four seasons in Portland and was an assistant coach for Quad City during its CBA Championship run in 1993-94, will lead the 76ers. Terry Stotts, who is in his first season as head coach for the Bucks and played in the CBA from 1980-83 and 1990-91, will be on Milwaukee's bench.
The CBA's eight organizations kick-off training camp this Sunday, Nov. 6, with the 60th anniversary season of the CBA set to begin on Friday, Nov. 18.
