20th CBA All-Star Classic to be Broadcast around the World

Boise, ID (January 15, 2004) â In its 58th consecutive season of play, the Continental Basketball Association's success and global reach continues to grow as the 20th CBA All-Star Classic will be seen world-wide, thanks to a partnership between the League and Fiberpipe Internet Services, who will provide a video webcast of the game. The January 20th contest will be broadcast live from Yakima, WA, beginning at 7:15 pm (PST), and can be accessed through the league website at www.cbahoopsonline.com.
"Broadcasting the All-Star Classic over the Internet creates a tremendous opportunity for us to showcase our players, fans, and corporate partners, to a global audience," stated CBA Commissioner Gary Hunter. "We are pleased about this partnership with Fiberpipe, and together we can expose people to the exciting world of CBA basketball."
Veteran broadcaster and CBA Director of Operations Scott Johnson will call the play-by-play, while CBA Deputy Commissioner Wade Morehead will provide color commentary for the game, which pits the National All-Star team against the American All-Stars. All-Star players were selected by CBA Head Coaches and team beat writers through a balloting process.
"We are very excited that the Continental Basketball Association has chosen Fiberpipe to provide the webcast coverage of the All-Star Game," stated Fiberpipe CEO Ken Birch. "The CBA is a great addition to our rapidly growing list of sports related webcast channels."
Fiberpipe, which was founded in January of 2000, provides a full range of dial-up and broadband Internet solutions for business and residential customers, as well as hosting, network management, monitoring services and co-location.
An average of 3,359 fans per game (23,515 total) made their way through the turnstiles during the CBA's opening weekend this season, including a sell-out crowd of 5,823 at the Genesis Convention Center in Gary. The League has also seen five players receive NBA call-ups since November 14, and has added two expansion teams (Muskegon, MI and Bellevue, WA) to begin play in the 2004-05 season.
