Ottawa RedBlacks News Release
OTTAWA - The CFL's Board of Governors gave the green light to a 14-game regular season on Monday, paving the way for the Ottawa REDBLACKS and the CFL's eight other teams to kick off the 2021 campaign August 5th and leading to the 108th Grey Cup on December 12 in Hamilton.
Following today's good news, the REDBLACKS released the following statements:
OSEG CEO Mark Goudie: "Today is the news that we have been hoping to announce for 15 months now: we can definitively say that we will have REDBLACKS football back in our lives. But the of return football means more than the game, it means the collective family that is RNation can reunite, having once again proven that the bond they share with their team can't be broken."
"We can't thank our fans enough for sticking with and by us. I'm confident that a little further down the road we will be able to announce how RNation gets added to the mix at TD Place on game days. We will be ready for you and ready to re-start making memories that you can share with family and friends. There is no better place than Ottawa, Lansdowne and TD Place on CFL gameday. Go REDBLACKS!"
REDBLACKS General Manager Marcel Desjardins: "It's been a long wait but we're thrilled that football is officially back. We've been hard at work preparing for camp and we can't wait to see RNation cheering us on in the stands once again very soon. Thank you to REDBLACKS ownership for their leadership and commitment to ensuring we get back on the field."
REDBLACKS Head Coach Paul LaPolice: "We are so excited as players, coaches and staff to get on the field and start working toward our goals. We look forward to games in front of RNation soon."
