2020 Schedule Announced

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - In conjunction with the Prospect League, the Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, announced their 2020 schedule Thursday morning. The defending champions open the season Thursday, May 28, at VA Memorial Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Along with $1 draft beer for Thirsty Thursday, there will also be a postgame fireworks display to celebrate the opening of the new season.

Once again, the schedule features 60 regular-season games with the Paints playing 30 at home and 30 on the road. The Paints will play all 60 of its games in the East Division against the Champion City Kings (Springfield, Ohio), Danville Dans (Danville, Ill.), Lafayette Aviators (Lafayette, Ind.), REX (Terre Haute, Ind.) and West Virginia Miners (Beckley, W.Va.). Chillicothe will play rival West Virginia more than any other team in 2020, the two are slated for 25 meetings.

The Prospect League schedule is designed to give players a taste of life in the minor leagues with charter bus travel, night games in front of enthusiastic crowds, and numerous overnight series in opponent cities.

The league's 12 teams stretch across five different states, split into two divisions. The Champion City Kings (Springfield, Ohio), Chillicothe Paints (Ohio), Danville Dans (Ill.), Lafayette Aviators (Ind.), REX (Terre Haute, Ind.) and West Virginia Miners (Beckley) will play in the East Division. The West Division includes the Cape Catfish (Cape Girardeau, Mo.), DuPage Pistol Shrimp (Lisle, Ill.), O'Fallon (Mo.), Normal CornBelters (Ill.), Quincy Gems (Ill.) and Springfield Sliders (Ill.).

The 2020 season also brings a return to split-season play. Division winners from the first and second halves of the season will meet in a one-game divisional championship with the winners advancing to the best-of-three Prospect League Championship Series. The league previously used the split-season format for three seasons from 2010-2012 and most recently from 2014-2016.
