2020 Prospect League Schedule Announced

December 12, 2019 - Prospect League (Prospect) News Release

ELKVILLE, Ill. - The Prospect League, home to elite collegiate baseball players from across the country, released its 2020 game schedule Thursday. Once again, each team will play a 60-game regular-season in the summer collegiate wood-bat league, opening Thursday, May 28.

The schedule is designed to give players a taste of what minor league baseball is like. Teams travel by charter bus with numerous overnight series in opponents' cities. Playing 60 games in just under 70 days in great venues and in front of enthusiastic crowds provides a truly professional experience.

The Prospect League lineup looks slightly different than in 2019, with the Hannibal franchise moving to O'Fallon, Missouri's CarShield Field. The club is announcing its team branding in the near future.

For the purposes of playoffs, Prospect League teams are divided into an East Division and a West Division with limited crossover play. The East Division includes the Champion City Kings (Springfield, Ohio), Chillicothe Paints (Chillicothe, Ohio), Danville Dans (Danville, Ill.), Lafayette Aviators (Lafayette, Ind.), REX (Terre Haute, Ind.), and the West Virginia Miners (Beckley, W.Va.). The West Division is comprised of the Cape Catfish (Cape Girardeau, Mo.), DuPage Pistol Shrimp (Lisle, Ill.), Normal CornBelters (Normal, Ill.), O'Fallon (O'Fallon, Mo.), Quincy Gems (Quincy, Ill.), Springfield Sliders (Springfield, Ill.)

The 2020 season also brings a return to split-season play. Division winners at the end of the first and second halves of the season will meet in a one-game divisional playoff with winners advancing to the best-of-three Prospect League Championship Series. The Prospect League also used the split-season format for three seasons from 2010-2012 and most recently for three seasons from 2014-2016.

"Every fan should look forward to watching their team's season unfold this summer," said Prospect League commissioner Dennis Bastien. "We, as a league, along with our individual clubs, expect the 2020 season to be our best yet!"

Individual teams will be releasing their schedules in the immediate future.
