2015 Prospect League Post Season All-Stars

August 20, 2015 - Prospect League (Prospect) News Release


The Prospect League has announced its Post Season All---Star Team and Awards for the 2015 season. Commissioner Bryan Wickline made the choices public Wednesday. Postseason All---Stars are voted on by Field Managers, a Front Office representative and one Media representative from each team. The Champion City Kings, Chillicothe Paints, and West Virginia Miners each had three players selected for the East Division, while two Butler BlueSox players and one Richmond RiverRats player earned postseason all-star nods.

The 2015 Prospect League Champion Terre Haute REX dominate the West Division's roster with six players being selected. The Kokomo Jackrabbits and Springfield Sliders each had two players earn postseason honors, while the Hannibal Cavemen and Quincy Gems each had one player selected.

Chillicothe's Tanner Allison was named Pitcher of the Year. A left-hander from Western Michigan University started 11 games for the Paints, earned a 9-0 record and a 1.11 ERA. He only allowed 35 hits and struck out 60 batters through 64.2 innings.

The Galen Woods Fireman of the Year award goes to Chillicothe closer Derek Hendrixson for his outstanding performance as a reliever. A right-hander from Heidelberg University, Hendrixson collected 17 Saves over the course of the summer and finished the season with a 1.89 ERA through 52.1 innings.

Butler BlueSox first baseman David Marcus collected both the Mike Schmidt Player of the Year award and the Roland Hemond Pro Prospect of the Year award. Marcus was named Player of the Week three times during the season and led the league in home runs (11), RBIs (49), total bases (134), doubles (18), extra-base hits (30), slugging percentage (.601), and finished fourth in batting average (.363).

The 2015 Prospect League Manager of the Year is Terre Haute REX's Bobby Segal. Segal led the REX to a record-breaking regular-season record of 43-17. The REX then went 4-0 in the playoffs and won their first Prospect League Championship. The REX finished the season with the second-best team ERA (2.58) and batting average (.262).
