2012 Frontier League Schedule Announced

Sauget, IL - The Frontier League released the schedule for their 20th season. Opening Day 2012 will take place on Thursday, May 17 when the Florence Freedom host the Traverse City Beach Bums and the Windy City ThunderBolts host the Joliet Slammers.
The remaining Frontier League clubs open on Friday, May 19, with Evansville, Gateway, Lake Erie, Normal, and Southern Illinois hosting games. The Joliet Slammers and Washington Wild Things both host their first regular season games on Tuesday, May 22, with the Slammers receiving their 2011 championship rings prior to their game.
The Frontier League's two newest teams, in London, Ontario and Schaumburg, Illinois, both open their home schedules on Friday, May 26 along with the Rockford RiverHawks and Traverse City Beach Bums.
The 2012 schedule again features 96 games played in three-game series. Each club has a home and away series against every other team in the Frontier League. Each team also has a second home and away series against three of their geographic rivals.
With the expansion to 14 teams, Evansville, Florence, and Southern Illinois switch to the East Division where they will be joined by holdovers Lake Erie, Traverse City, and Washington and the new London club. Joliet, Rockford, and Windy City move to the West, joining Gateway, Normal, River City, and Schaumburg.
The Normal CornBelters host the 2012 Frontier League All-Star Game, presented by State Farm Insurance, on Wednesday, July 11. The regular season concludes on Sunday, September 2 with games in Evansville, Gateway, Normal, River City, Southern Illinois, Traverse City, and Washington. The 2012 playoff format will be adopted at the Board of Directors' meeting in early November.
Debuting in 1993, the Frontier League features teams in seven Midwestern states and southern Ontario, stretching from Pennsylvania to Missouri and from Kentucky to Canada. More information and the complete 2012 schedule can be found at www.frontierleague.com.
