NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers in conjunction with The American Cancer Society are proud to announce that the 2011 Southeastern Connecticut Relay For Life walk will be held at Dodd Stadium, starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11th and running through Sunday, June 12th.
"The Tigers are proud to host such a great and meaningful event here at our ballpark," said Tigers Director of Community Relations and Promotions Dave Schermerhorn. "Giving back to the community is one of our biggest goals here in Southeastern Connecticut and the ability to take part in this 24-hour relay is just another way to strengthen our community ties."
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-altering event that celebrates the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved one's lost and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path, in this case the warning track at Dodd Stadium. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length, because cancer never sleeps.
The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. The Tigers' home opener at Dodd Stadium will be June 20th 2011 at 7:05 P.M. against the Tri-City ValleyCats (Class-A affiliate of the Houston Astros). Season tickets are on sale now at www.cttigers.com or by calling the Tigers box office at (860) 887-7962.
