
2011 MVP Tommy Jones Re-Signs for 2012

Saginaw, MI - The Saginaw Sting are pleased to announce the re-signing QB Tommy Jones from Indiana University. Jones, who led the league in 2011 with 76 touchdown passes and a passer rating 107.1, returns to Sting in hopes of winning another championship in 2012. "I believe this could be a great year," said Jones, "And with the group of guys we have coming back I believe it will be a lot of fun and a very successful season."
"Having Tommy return this season was part of our plan from day one," said Co-Owner Stuart Schweiger, "His ability to lead the offense while helping us plan for the future will give us an advantage for years to come." The Sting have contract offers extended to three other QB's and plan to have at least two of them as part of the 25-man roster when the season kicks off.
The Sting are also pleased to announce the signing of seven more players from last Saturday's tryout. Players included K Daniel Evans (Northwood), DB Shawn Richardson (East Carolina), WR/QB Matt Faiman (Central Michigan), DB Marcus McGhee (Saginaw), DE Maurice Gilmer (Saginaw), DL Pedro Moncado (Saginaw), WR Loren Wiechmann (Saginaw).
Each of these players earned the right to attend the Sting's training camp set to begin on Monday February 20th inside the Saginaw Athletic Club on Gratiot Rd in Saginaw with practice beginning at 8:00PM. The team expects to have as many as 40 players in camp when things get started before finalizing their 25 man roster prior to their March 18th home opener at Draper Auto Field inside The Dow Event Center against the Chicago Vipers.
