
2009-10 Mohawk Mel Rojas Added to Pirates MLB Roster

2009-10 Mohawk outfielder Mel Rojas Jr was added to the Pittsburgh Pirates Major League roster on March 12. He appeared in the Pirates spring training game that same day going 0 for 2. Rojas was a key member of both the 2009 and 2010 Mohawk's championship teams. He was a 3rd round selection of the Pirates in 2010 out of Wabash CC but stayed with the Mohawks until mid-July when he finally signed his contract.
He joins Hunter Pence and Austin Hyatt (Phillies), Brendan Harris (Rockies), Val Pascucci and Tillman Pugh (Mets), and Cord Phelps (Indians) as former Mohawks in Major League camps.
